Juicy Orchid Cardigan

I made this cardigan using this pattern from The Juicy Book 354 by Sirdar. This was a quick knit using only 11 skeins of Harvest. Harvest is 100% Australian wool yarn now discontinued from the Spotlight range. I bought a lot of this yarn on sale about a year ago. I think I was crazy at the time as I still have 19 skeins left! This yarn is hard wearing and soft, great for an everyday garment. The crepe construction lends itself to the lace pattern on the bottom of the body and sleeves as it keeps the lace form compact and neat as the yarn has minimal fuzz. My cardigan is unfortunately a bit short on me although it is longer than the instructed length. Apologies for the blurred image.

Picchio by Moda Vera is a beautiful new single ply yarn from Spotlight. Its composition is 70% fine super wash merino and 30% silk which makes it light in weight, soft, great drape and with a slight fuzzy halo. Because of its great yardage it took 2 skeins for me to create my luxurious scarf from the pattern Big Wave from Sublime #602, The Sublime Merino Hand Knit Book. This was an interesting knit as the colours fade and out reminding me of butterfly wings, a must have for Noro fans. Almost hypnotised by the colours unfurling I found it difficult to put this project down.

4mm needles

Singapore

I have been on a holiday in Singapore. I have been here for 1 week and I have one more week to go. I am almost finished knitting my Sirdar Juicy Cardigan. I also am crocheting my first scarf and I am so proud that I taught myself to crochet on the plane! My local library has the best knitting books including Boutique Knits by Laura Irwin.
I have taken some gorgeous photos of the local flora at Istana Park.
I have worked with a great photographer in Singapore. The sculptural Henderson Waves bridge was perfect for a shoot. I am more than happy with the results!

FO Tea Rose Halter

I thought I would share my pictures of my knitted halter taken after my modelling shoot with Sabrina, she's a wonderful photographer. The top I am wearing is my Twinkle Tea Rose Halter which I made from Interweave Knits last year. I made it holding 3 strands of Moda Vera Paul together, a yarn bought from Spotlight a few years ago. Poor Tea Rose doesn't get out much, she's a bit big for me and stretches out of shape easily. I still love wearing it occasionally.

FO Square Neck Cardigan

I finished this cardigan recently. It is from Rowan Studio #11. Unfortunately the pattern has a lot of positive ease for a relaxed fit. Because I have a small bust it really is too big for me so I gave it to my sister. It's a shame I would really like to make it again with a smaller gauge as it is so classic and easy to wear. I think this yarn suits patterns that are for a 5-6ply yarn not a 8ply yarn as it is marketed to be. It's perfect for substitution for Rowan's RYC Bamboo Soft.

2 3/4mm and 3mm needles
5 shell buttons
Rowan Studio 11

FO Erin Cardigan

I finished the Erin cardigan by Kim Hargreaves a little while ago. Here's a look at the pictures, it's a bit big but I love it. The Rooster Almerino yarn is just so soft and if it wasn't so expensive and hard to get(usually $16 AU per 50g ball) I would make another project out of it. This project was actually quite reasonable to make as I bought the yarn on sale at Calico and Ivy and Web of Wool. In total this cardigan cost about $80 AU to make.
I needed:
12 balls of Rooster Almerino in Smoothie(50% baby alpaca, 50% baby merino)
3 and 3.5mm straight bamboo needles to get gauge
Kim Hargreaves book "The Dark House"

This new book from Rowan has the most divine patterns. I especially like these patterns which can be found on the englishyarns website. I think the pattern of the pullover is too cute.

RIP Phildar Cardigan

There's definitely perks of living at home and sometimes there definitely isn't.. Mum threw my Phildar Cardigan in the washing machine, it's now stiff as a board and could fit a 5 year old, but ain't it cute! It made me laugh for half an hour, I didn't like it that much anyway...

Wisteria Faith

I'm currently making the Faith Cardigan from Kim Hargreaves book "The Dark House Collection". It's been fun so far as the lace pattern has kept me intriqued. I am making it with a Moda Vera yarn called Merinos Fine from Spotlight which has been sitting in my stash for a while. Today I finished the back, I'm a bit worried that the cardigan will be a bit short for me but time will tell.

Kim Hargreaves Erin

Rooster Almerino is such a beautiful yarn to work with. It's 50%baby alpaca and 50% fine merino. I'm making Kim Hargreaves "Erin" cardigan from the "Dark House" Collection. I originally purchased 10 skeins from Calico and Ivy in Mosman Park and I'm short a couple of balls. I am waiting for a few more in the right dye lot so I can complete 1/4 of a sleeve and the collar. Here is the photo of the back.
